Time Commitment in Year One: 1-3 hours per week, mix of in class and self-exploration

Attendance Policy: There are 25 Required Sessions in Year One
  • Excused absences: Trainees are allowed up to 3. These are absences where advanced notice is given to miss a required session. These are usually due to research, academic, or personal matters. Email Tami to give advanced notice. 4 or more excused absences = Reduction of professional development funds ($500 instead of $1000)
  • Unexcused absences: Trainees are allowed up to 2. These are absences where no notice is given and the trainee does not show up for required session. 3 or more unexcused absences = loss of internship placement
  • Leave of absences: Notice is needed. There are absences where the trainee is missing all university obligations due to death in the family, birth of a child, or other circumstances determined as an official leave of absence by the university.  Attendance at conferences will also be counted as leave of absence and will not be counted as excused or unexcused absences.
  • Maximum: If a trainee misses 5 required sessions- regardless of excused or unexcused, and there is no discussion initiated by the trainee to make up these sessions, the trainee will be dismissed from the program. Trainees will be notified of their dismissal in writing.
  • Make-up: Trainees who wish to make up absence can work with Tami to run a workshop or lead an activity to remove an absence from their total.
